Unfortunately Mariano lost 2-6, 6-7 (8) Pity he didn't manage to win the second set, as he was up 5-2. But good fight after the slow start in the first set and also at the end of the second set when the Italian was serving for the match. I think Mariano just needs to win a couple of matches to gain confidence. He is always so close to win but somehow ends up losing... Anyway, the season is still very young, so plenty of time left to climb up the rankings. The results will come, for sure Looking at the positive side, M has now some days to rest and be at home before heading to the States !

Well, the Tandil doubles withdrew from their doubles match and the ATP website lists Mariano as the one who retired. Hopefully he is okay. It is a worrying time right now, I don't like it
