Part of an article from www.ole.clarin.com/jsp/v3/pagina.jsp?pagId=957229It looks as the injury is very serious . Medical tests confirmed that Mariano's "tendon of the sole" is injured. Mariano is out of action for two months and will miss all European clay court tournaments, inlcuding Roland Garros . His return to the tour might be in Bastad to defend his title. Mariano travels "in the following hours" to Spain to see his personal doctor before returning to Argentina for rehabilitation. I feel like crying, it is such bad luck Mariano must feel devastated Get well soon Mariano, you will be in our thoughts.

Thanks for that update and this so disappointing.
He was playing very well and had a QF spot in his sights and had the chance to play his best tennis during this part of the season.
The injury is bad enough, but this time of year is the worst.
Get well soon Mariano.

"It is very unlucky, because I was in a very good form and this interrupts/cuts a very important tour when I was playing well and with much confidence" Mariano will be attended by the oficial doctor of the Spanish Tennis Federation Angel Ruiz Cotorro in Barcelona.

* _____________________________________________ The article says nothing new, except that according to close persons to Mariano, he will be rehabilitating (does this word exist?) between Tandil and Capital Federal. There is also a picture to this article, but it is too painful to post .

It is really a pitty... he was doing really well... I feel bad for him The only thing I can tell now is that I wish him a good and fast recovering Mariano: espero te puedas recuperar bien y si es pronto mejor, si no, obviamente tu salud está primero. Mercedes.

And some other info: the doctor of the Spanish Tennis Federation is the one who took care of Coria's injury, so M is in good hands.

__________________________________________________________________________________________ Can someone translate this please? My Spanish is not good enough to translate all those medical expressions. But basically the article says that Mariano consulted the doctor in Barcelona yesterday and that the doctor suggested two possibilities to cure the injury: a conservative one and a surgery. (If Mariano undergoes the sugery, he wont be able to take a raquet in his hand for five weeks). The Spanish doctor prefers the surgery, as it is less risky. Mariano's doctors in Buenos Aires do not agree with the surgery. The doctors will consult with each other and Mariano and his family will take a decision today.

Sorry Corina, I didn't see your article for translation, you made a very good summary. In ATP Tennis Spanish version, www.atptennis.com/es/newsandscores/news/2005/montecarlo_zabaleta.asp says that he is finally doing what his doctors in Buenos Aires recommended: to rest and avoid surgery (this last was suggested by Cotorro, Spanish doctor who operated Coria's shoulder). It is expected that he will be out for a month only. I will try to translate what his problem is about: He suffered a 1-centimeter break (around 50%) of the "fascia", the tissue that joins the ankle with the toes and that allows the movement of the arch in the left foot.

Daussyk, the headline of the article is: Zabaleta won't be at Roland Garros. In the article it is said, that it will take either four weeks of "immobilisation", then rehab and after that again tennis (that would be the non-surgery version) or surgery and then five weeks until he can take a racquet again in his hands. So sorry for you, but this year's pre-Wimbledon-clay-season is over for Mariano

Mariano should take as long as it's necessary to heal and not come back too soon as that would be even worse.
If he can play at Båstad again that would be really cool, but I don't want to see him on court any earlier if there are any doubts about the fitness.
