Mariano won his first match in the tournament against Andre Sa 3/6, 7/6 (9/7) e 6/2.
I love the free translations of the articles, but they sound so silly though. Sa did have match points from what I could gather.

This is a translation from: esportes.terra.com.br/interna/0,,OI384693-EI1868,00.html Duel between Brazil and Argentina is tied. The duel between Brazilians and Argentinians in “Tênis Espetacular” started with a victory for each country on Wednesday, when the exhibition tournament’s 2 first matches were played. In an empty “ginasio do Ibirapuera” and with no enthusiasm from the crowd, Flavio Saretta warranted the first brazilian triumph winning over Gastón Gaudio, Roland Garros reigning champion, by 2 sets to 0, 6:1 and 7:6 (8:6) In the first tournament’s match, André Sá could make 1 to 0 to Mariano Zabaleta, but the Argentinian came back and closed the match with a score of 2:1, sets of 3:6, 7:6 (9:7) and 6:2. The six tennis players are divided into two groups. Besides Sá and Zabaleta, Gustavo Kuerten is in group A, who plays on Thursday against the Argentinian. Group B counts with Saretta, Gaudio and Juan Ignacio Chela, who play on Thursday against the Brazilian. Winners of each group will play final on Saturday. Sá had a good start in his match, opening 5 to 0 over Zabaleta, till closing the set by 6:3. Although, in next set, the Argentinian reappered and won the tie-break (9:7). Cheerful, Zabaleta imposed his game to close the match with a quick 6:2. “He began to play better in last set, but I didn’t play bad. I got out of focus. He began very well on the third set and it was very complicated”, Sá evaluated. In the next match, Saretta played consistently for getting the win over Gaudio. The first set was the easiest for the Brazilian, who won for 6:1. On next set, Saretta hesitated on his first serve and allowed the Argentinian to react, but in the tie-break the Brazilian demostrated to be more calmed and made 8:6 “I needed this victory to grow up mentally after this year’s season. Gaudio started soft on first set, and I took advantage of that. After that, he got better, I got trapped with my serve, lost two serves, but I was good for me to win the tie-break”, commented the paulist tennis player, who played at home. “I think that playing here, near my family, is the best thing in the world. There are very few moments in which I look outside, and see my father, my girlfriend and my friends cheering for me. That’s very funny”, said Saretta.

"The points were decided in one or two balls, but it was a fighted match, I played well in the importants points, and for me it is very important to stay in the court, at least. But the important thing is people's ... and that is one of the things that motivates me to continue playing"

Sorry about previous link... I made a mistake... Louise, could you delete it for me?? thanks These are some comments from Guga regarding to the match played with Mariano Corina: Portuguese is very similar to Spanish, so it is not a talent from my part "Os pontos foram decididos em uma ou duas bolas, mas foi um jogo disputado, joguei bem os pontos importantes e para mim, hoje em dia, quanto menos eu ficar em quadra, melhor. Thanks Mercedes for the pic and Guga's comment ! Yes, Portuguese is similar to Spanish, but still, I find it really hard to make a sense of it. Spanish is a lot closer to French which makes it easier to me to understand !

Apesar do momento difícil, Guga mostra confiança. "Ano que vem eu vou voltar. E vou incomodar".
