yes, really good result, as Leo is in good form recently and reached his career high just before the US Open. I stayed calm this time, because I follow the Portuguese players on their tennis forum too, so I was a little, (just a little bit) torn. The next match vs Santiago Giraldo is scheduled tonight 6pm local time. Mariano, at 1am it's likely I am in bed.

I can't believe they did not put one single pic of M on their website Thank your for the order of play. I guess the match is too late for me either... need to go to work earlier tomorrow and face another not funny day there... ( I hate these Russian clients and attorneys...) Oh well, hopefully Mariano's quarterfinal will be played on a better time for us to follow.... Vamos Mariano!! He has the public against him tonight, but he knows he has our support Vamos!

Hi I followed this match on the scoreboard last night... He lost after having an opponent that fought every point - like he did - all through the match. At 5-4 1st set there was a delay (about 1.5 hours) M came back out and took the first set In the second set at 2-3 M was 15-40 down (2 break points) he saved these and then proceeded to win a marathon game that had another 5 or 6 break points in it too.... just in that one game - the second set was very tight - All through the match they were level on points - yes M had 2 match points at 5-4 2nd set.... they were on Giraldo's serve. Giraldo saved both of these - and then the set went to a tie-break.... It would have been great if M did managed to convert one of those break Match points - but Giraldo repaid M and saved them both. It was a very close match. The 3rd set had both players trading breaks - then the Columbian got the lucky 3rd break and basically it was all over. Giraldo was 2nd Seed and is also No.1 Columbian playing in Columbia ... This was no bad loss. no way... Next week - 3rd round please - thank you

No, it was not a bad loss at all. He was very close to beat Giraldo, who is a tournament favourite and who had all the crowd behind him. Mariano fought as always and gave all he had. Next time he will be luckier, I am sure Thanks Louise for the match report.
