Yes, congrats to Rafa. I think everybody knows how much I wanted Roger to win this title, but Rafa was simply too good. Congrats to him on an unbelievable tournament and clay court season, once again I am just really glad it's always Rafa who beats Roger and not Djokovic, lol Louise - have fun in Queens and tell us all the tennis news

Reiko
Thank you for finding that article!!
Basically - from what I can read (professional Corina/Mercedes type translation required) - Mariano tells the Journalist world exactly what he thinks of them, nicely and politely and explains to them how it feels from their side.

Good summary Louise I will try to translate the basic points when I have a free moment. Right now I am too busy following the European football Cup (Reiko must be pleased with the Dutch team, and of course also Birte with the Germans ) and partying in the fanzones Have a nice weekend everyone!

Yes, I am also enjoying the soccer so much Honestly I haven´t even followed Wimbledon like I use to do, even if there was no soccer on the first 2 Wimbledon days... But the match against Turkey today will be very important, so I am excited about this match since a few days already...I am sooooooooo hoping for a final between Germany and Spain, that would be wonderful ;D Corinne, only 10 days until Båstad ;D At the latest when I am there I will be all into tennis again Sorry for a bit off topic here, but I guess that´s okay

Birte - I also enjoy the soccer very much and I am so sad it is over on Sunday I am really pleased with the final (as Birte is, too )- two big and great teams playing each other, I am sure it will be a good match Bastad is really close... hopefully the weather will be a bit better than last year

How is everyone? Hopefully this board will get a bit busier once M is back fighting on the courts again Last week Birte and I were in Bastad and had a great time We lived in a tiny Swedish summer house, really very sweet. The weather was much better than last year and we could enjoy the beach which is so close to the tennis courts. It is a wonderful tournament, beautiful village, friendly people, always a party going on, even if it is 2 p.m. The tennis was great, we enjoyed good matches and were happy with the results and the winner (Tommy Robredo) Of course I missed Mariano and Team Tandil a lot, but Mariano is still there. His picutre with the trophy still decorates the window of the hotel It would be a dream if he would return to Bastad next year. So, what has everyone been doing? Are you going on summer vacation? Louise- are you in Blackpool? Have a nice summer everyone

Yes, it was a surprise. I think to play qualies in Sweden was a short term decision in order to get match practice under his belt. He is in the maindraw now Vamos Pico Other surprise of this tournament is that Pimpim Johansson makes his comeback in Stockholm after having retired early this year due to serious shoulder problems. He says that he worked with Moya's staff and that his shoulder has been much better since then. Birte and I had the pleasure to see Pimpim on the practice courts with young Swedes every day in Bastad this year. You could see that Pimpim was still very competitive, always wanting to win. He was also greeted very nicely by all top players. He is a nice guy (Mariano also likes him a lot, as confirmed in tenispro) and I am glad he is back. He is still so young. Sorry for this, but this news made me happy as well

Oh, I did not realize that Juan needed to win three matches to make the maindraw. He lost the last qualy match but is still in the maindraw as LL

The UK Reality Show I'm A Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here - (where they are really mean to the Celebrity Contestants and make them climb into bug pits and creature baths and eat bugs and other delicate parts of animals - for food prizes - starts on Sunday.... (It's set in the Australian Jungle with Ant & Dec presenting). Martina Navratilova will be taking part!!!! - this has caused a bit of a stir on the "reality websites and forums!!!" - she is on the official site! Hope she does really well - she was really nice to Marcus - asked lots of questions about one of his photos - down to earth and friendly - and seemed really interested when she found out he took it... celebrity.itv.com/TheCelebrities/All interesting news will be reported here.....

Hola a todos! There was an article about Navratilova's participation in that show today in the Swiss newspaper where the motive of her doing that was discussed. The conclusion drawn was that she must be bored, as she has already enough money and is already enough famous. Not sure what to think of it. BUT the news of today is that according to Ole Juan Chela gets married today in Bs As and the whole DC team is attending the wedding (and I am sure another player and close friend of his as well ). Congrats to Juan and Veronica. I would love to see a pic of the lovely couple, but maybe it is too private

Martina News
She's loving it! It shows! she's got a wicked dry sense of humour and is the natural Alpha Leader of her Pack.
- There are two camps - the happy camp and the miserable camp..
She's in the Happy Camp with George Takei (Mr Sulu) - Some WAG, A Politician, Dani Behr and Joe Swash (Actor in Eastenders) - Joe is acting all starstruck around her - which is sweet - and I think she has adopted him now... or will be in process of adopting him.
he has now been selected for his 3rd Nasty Task in a row - and it only started last night....
Martina was chosen for a challenge to win a chest containing treats against someone from the other camp.
"swimming through a smelly swamp - and then throwing water balloons "basketball" style to get keys to the chest,"
Martina's opponent?
Carly Zucker - WAG Fiancee to Joe Cole? - her (Zucker's) reaction was great!!... oh great... swim through a swamp, throw water balloons into a high target, yeah, no problem? - I was good at Netball at school - who's my opponent? only one of the World's Best Ever Athletes, yeah right no problem... easy...
Martina won easily of course.. -
She has not been selected for Tomorrow's nasty task - that's Joe again...
(The miserable camp is having personality problems... in the shape of the fact they have Robert Kilroy-Silk - poor them.... he will go very soon... odds on to be first person to be evicted...)

Tonight's programme was a bit boring...
Robert Kill-Joy Silk is a miserable moaning old man who complains about everything and is spoiling it for everyone (he used to be a TV Presenter for DayTime TV Chat Shows - he is now a Politician) - he lost the Food Challenge.... HA HA!!
Tonight's programme was for all the men watching - it focused on the pretty girls all the time.
The two camps (Camp Camp and Grumpy Camp) merged earlier than expected due to Grumpy Camp getting flooded - and Kill-Joy Silk's bed being the centre of the flood.... Ha hA haaa
Videos and photos available on the official site.
KIll-Joy Silk has been voted to do the next trial!!!!!!!!! (YAY!)

In the Revista Caras is a report and pics of Juan Chela's wedding. Thanks Reiko for finding it I was not sure if there will pics, as Juan is a private person. BUT there are pics and Juan and Veronica look so happy, which I am so glad about According to the article Juan and Veronica have known each other since kids, as they both played in the same tennis club. At age of 14 Veronica quit playing tennis and their ways separated. But they did find each other again in 2002 and are a couple since then (and now a married couple) Of course there were lots of players invited: Mariano, Gaston, Pico, Calleri, Nalbandian, Acasuso, Massu, Dulko and Coria among others Congrats again to the newlyweds
