Dear Girls! Just a quick hello from some very happy girls. )))) We saw Mariano today. He practiced with Gaston, and looked good in dark green shirt and white shorts. Gaston looked lees stylish, bit he IS HEEEEEERRRREEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! Dreams do come true. )))))))) We also met Mr Crocodile-hunter in rather bizarre circumstances. Blame kitzfan, the witch. ) We're not happy with some parts of the draw as well, but what can we do?! And egg is trying to control kitzfan's gambling habits. ))) We have no idea about the order for tomorrow (Vina is heaven, but the tournament is a mess - and Louise, think of te Malaga stadium, but in slightly more dangerous form. ) but I guess we´ll have enough to see anyway. Vamos Mariano and Co! ) Hugs, us

Lovely pics - thanks Here some quotes from news articles taken from ar.sports.yahoo.com/tenis/"Nos conocemos mucho con Nico (Lapentti).

"We know with Nico (Lapentti) a lot. We are close friends and today I was lucky to be more inspired than him", explained Zabaleta, who then confesed to be sad "to eliminate a big friend. That's why I almost don't celebrate these wins"
Zabaleta seemed surprised for the easy victory over Lapentti.
I played very well, with few mistakes, but I haven't seen Nicolás playing well", said. "It seems that he is going through a good moment since it's been long he doesn't play ATP tournaments and this could be the reason" "Drive is my best hit, I've been preparing it a lot because when I hit it well, I make the difference", said Zabaleta.

Hola chicas! Tried to write last night, but it got lost. Mariano played really well, as you must know by now. The result shows the match accurately. It was great to see Mariano play so well, but to be honest, it was a litle sad to see Nico play so much unlike his old self. But maybe it´ll come back. Anyway, we were very happy with the result, and it was great to watch Mariano play such good attacking tennis from BOTH wings. (Yes, lots of backhand winners, too!!! We saw his possible opponent, Harboe, a lot. He´s a talented young guy, but if Mariano plays like yesterday, it should be no problem. And the boy might get tired, too. Some other results were less good yesterday, but we hope to see some good matches (with GOOD results) today! Hope all is well with everyone. We´ll keep on cheering the guys worth cheering for. Vamos Mariano and Co! Hasta luego! us

I am loving the reports and good to see that you are watching tennis played on a real surface.
Melu, I think Nico would be very looked after and you could show him the real Buenos Aires.

Hi all!
No Mariano news from yesterday. We saw him go to Monaco´s match, and we saw him come from Monaco´s match. We admit we didn´t watch Monaco´s match. Egg saw three games, but didn´t like Puerta, so didn´t stay around.
Again, there were some good wins, some difficult wins (in the freeeeeezing cold), and some sad losses.
So Mariano plays Ventura. We only saw the last few points of his match, but we saw him in Kitz, and we belive Mariano must beat him!
That´s all for now. Vamos Gaston tonight! I think we´ll take the blankets from the hotel with us....
Adios todos!

Mariano makes the quarters and now meets the Chilean hero Gonzalez in the quarters in the battle of the forehands. I kile Gonzo, he has already won a title this year and hopefully this result is like the one in Båstad.

This was such a wonderful day that egg decided to postpone her birthday with one day. Everybody we suppoerted WON!!!!!! Mariano made his life a little more difficult than necessary. He could´ve won the first set 6:1, but credit to Ventura, he stepped up his game, and we had a match to watch, instead of the very onesided beginning. Thank God, Mariano broke when he had to, and won the first set 64. The second set was hard fought too, but Mariano was in control, and there were some spectacular rallies. He seems to have a nice, supportive team behind him, and we did our best as well, and got our reward. Big brownie points to M! Gaston was a changed man after his first match. He played beautifully, very relaxed, and even when he was upset (got a point penalty for swearing. LOL!) he could keep his cool and play on at the same, very high level. Very entertatining match. The Gonzo-Almagro duel was entertaining in another way. It was all tension, and that´s what we expect tonight as well. Fernando seems to be under a lot of pressure, and he´s not handling it too well. So we´ll see what happens tonight. It should be a great match! (But we still hate the draw...) It looks like the Gods don´t want us to make it to BA too early, but no complaining. The boys need our support here.

Hi guys! Sorry for the luck of updates yesterday, but we were busy looking for a new hotel, changing our flight, etc. We planned to be in BA by now, but some people just can`t lose. What can we say about THE match?! First of all: Louise, you DON`T want to see a match like that! Nor do we in the future. It was a great match, extremely exciting, amazing atmosphere, but I don`t think we`ve ever felt so much tension on a tennis court. And we definitely hadn`t seen Mariano getting so upset before. We still think he handled the situation pretty well, and hope he`s not feeling too bad. He should be very proud of himself, he played fantastic (lots of great VOLLEYS!!!!), but Gonzo wasn`t about to lose that match. Hopefully Mariano can take his revenge next week in the same round!!!! Yesterday was a much more relaxed day. Gaston IS a totally changed man, and sooooooooo much fun to watch. So much so that kitzfan keeps saying: I want to be a Gaudio-fan! However, old habits die hard, so we`ll have another difficult night ahead of us. Based on pure form, Gaston should win, but it won`t be easy. We hope to see another great match and will try not to kill each other. Ah, life can be so difficult. When you have your wishes granted. Hope you`re all well. We´re looking forward to seeing the BA girls soon!!!! Adios!

Hi Melu/Kitzfan and Egg...
If you guys are in Buenos Aires for the tournament I hope to see you there. I arrived in Argentina on Friday evening and watched the Zab/Gonzo match live on TV from my hotel room.
Saw Mariano yesterday (and today).

Hi Melu
I have been busy trying to find all you girls... with descriptions from Louise. I thought I had found Bea and Agnes but the girls I asked if they spoke little English looked at me as if I was a fool. Sorry I missed you last night. Wasnt feeling too good - cold - and after the first set and half of Mariano´s match I left, watched a few games of Rafa´s doubles and then went back to the hotel. I havent been in bed much before 2.30/3 am any night this week... especially after the matches on Tuesday and Wednesday (Rafa´s doubles finished at 2 am).
I will be wondering again today if any of you are there... One way of recognising me is that I have my photography pass on the necktie thing that I got from Melbourne instead of the red of everyone else so I should be easy to spot.
Well thats all for me. Off to the tenis.
