Mariano will not compete in the doubles, but Mariano Hood will be playing with Jose Acususo. Isn't this Mariano's coach (On the ATP website he is) ??

Yes, Mariano Hood is Mariano's coach. He is a former doubles players and it looks like he still likes to compete occasionally as professional Maria mad the trip to Argentina and is in Bs As right now. She posts here too, just not that regulary. I am sure she will do her best to cheer for Mariano for all of us

Well, it looks like M withdrew in the last moment. He has been replaced. It seems he has a physical problem

Its good that he withdrew immediately to make sure no further damage can be done by playing on. I KNOW this is the wrong time to say this but its one of the things I admire - too many players "play through" and then have further problems down the line. Lets just hope this is just another "set back"

I don't know if you have seen that Carlos Berlocq is writing a blog that is publishes on the ATP site during the Buenos Aires week. I have seen him only a very few times on a tennis court and I did not know him at all, so it was nice to read his blog and to learn more about him. He seems to be very nice and down-to earth person. In today's blog he talks about how difficult tennis life was at the beginning of his career. How hard it was to have enough money to pay the plane tickets, the hotels, the coach, the clothes, etc.. He says that now that he earns better he tries to help the young players at the academy by bying them shoes, clothes, racquets. And then there is this nice anectode: Por ejemplo nunca me voy a olvidar cuando vivía en Mar de Plata y no tenía plata para las raquetas. El Negro Zabaleta me las regaló... Y yo qué sé. Nunca me olvidé de ese gesto. Quizás no las hubiese podido comparTranslation: " For example I will never forget the time when I lived in Mar de Plata and did not have enough money for racquets. El Negro Zabaleta offered me them. I will never forget this gesture. Maybe I could not have bought them"
