Mariano withdrew of Costa do Sauípe. Here is the link, unfortunately only in Portuguese. A short translation: The Argentinian Mariano Zabaleta and the Austrian Werner Eschauer withdrew of the Brazil Open. The Ecuadorian Nicolas Lapentti and the Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas are confirmed in the main draw of the only ATP-tournament in Brazil.

I don't know why Mariano withdrew but I am wishing that maybe it is because he decided to support two of his best friends who are scheduled to play an exhibition match on 12th... "...el rival de Gaudio, que sería Juan Ignacio Chela,..." ( www.nuevodiariodesalta.com.ar/diario/archivo/noticias_v.asp?10674) This is my wishful thinking. If anything is wrong with him, I wish him a quick recovery.

I am hoping that the reason he pulled out of Brasil could be that training in Argentina with all friends is going really well; and that as it is Davis Cup weekend he "could have needed" to provide his services as practice partner (just guessing) and maybe he's saving his carbon footprint by saving a trip to Brasil as he would be back in BsAs for the tournament next week - hoping he is partying with friends and training hard Reiko! We had Davis Cup Exhibition coverage - Pico was playing the part of very happy cheerleader in the crowds - lots of coverage of him.
