Mariano is the fourth man on the alternate list for Napoli. He has withdrawn from manza.

Like I said it will be interesting to see if M plays the French. I don't think he is retiring, but if he does he will have a going out tournament. Also, my ban has been lifted on mtf and i normally check the entry lists for challengers but M doesnt enter them anymore so fyi i dont look anymore also he ranking is in the 300's does this mean that he will have to play some future events>

www.losandes.com.ar/notas/2008/5/4/deportes-356999.aspThis is an interview with Gaston (nothing new about his future plans) and in the introduction it says that Gaston came to Mendoza to replace Mariano, who was planned to be the protagonist of the exhibition but who got injured a fews days ago. However M still seems to be in a good mood Hope the injury is not too serious.

Yes, and M's other friend from Morocco even made the semis in Munich last week at age 36! This should be some motivation! The Rome tournaments is really interesting...hmm... lots of upsets!

There is an article on Gaston's Thread on MTF - that Reiko kindly found - there's lots of Gaston stuff on it but there was also this quote - -- basically - NOT retiring.... he's having a gap year (my words not theirs) (and now I have a picture in my mind of both of them stuck on a Mountain somewhere with backpacks on....) I cant easily link the article from here as I am at RG Qualies...

Eduardo Schwank won the last two challengers he played before RG qualies, so he is in great shape. I only hope he can get new documents now during those days in Paris as all his documents, laptop, prize money from Rome Challenger (which he won) burnt down during a fire in Bordeaux player hotel last week. Here is the link to the report about the fire on the atp-site. I'm following the Portuguese players also via a Portuguese tennis forum (using the forum also to test my Portuguese skills ) and Rui Machado (that's the way he's written, Greg) had a great year so far. If Frederico Gil wins his match in the last quali round then he will achieve a career high too.

Yes, thanks Reiko for the news. I read that article some weeks ago, but didn't have time to post (sorry, but I am so busy these days, so much to do at work and going to school at the same time, it's crazy..). I also read somewhere that M plans to do another tennis tv show. He aims to start the show at the end of this year. It will be like tenispro, but has (for legal reasons) a new name. Gaston will appear in the show, too. So I am sure M won't get bored Have fun everyone who is in Paris! I would love to be there, too!

I really recommend you to watch the video Reiko posted the link to on MTF ( tenissports.tv//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17&Itemid=30. It is a video about the exhibition in Mendoza that took place early this month. Mariano's and Gaston's interview is at the very end of the video. They both look very relaxed, laughing and having fun. I didn't understand a lot, but M says that it is difficult to retire from tennis because life on tour was his life for 15 years. He also says that he has a couple of years ahead of him to play competition. So he knows that he is not to old to keep playing tennis

Daussyk, thanks for the reports:). I wish I could be in RG as well. I am sad Pico lost Birte said the Swede served really well and Pico couldn't do anything. She also said he fell hard in the third. I hope he is ok. And I am also sorry for Chelita, who has to finish the match tomorrow. His match was scheduled for Sunday (four days ago). Not an easy situation to handle. Vamos Juan! Yes, we all miss Mariano, it would be so nice to see him on court again
