The reason for France withdraw (before anyone starts worrying about injuries) was he was not coming over to Europe - and playing the Challenger series in South America instead.

It looks like next tournament will be Belo Horizonte

It looks like? What does that mean in Louise-language ? As for Bogota I am sure M will get a wild card if he wants one. Bogota was the first tournament he has won. It was in 1998 Here is the official site for the copa petrobas series www.copapetrobrasdetenis.com.br/espanhol/index.asp

Oops sorry, I did not realize Bogota is NEXT week, thought it was the week after. I am a bit surprised he does not play in Bogota, especially because the town is special to him tennis-wise, but maybe he needs some extra work at home.

It could be M couldn't ask for a WC because he had already entered another event in the same week. Would make sense. So, we have one week to wait until the action starts again

Not good news I hope he is ok. He hasn't played that much that he needs a break. Hopefully he plays the last three tournaments.

I was in Basel today and tried to get Mariano news, but failed. But I asked for help and I am positive that we will have Mariano first hand news very soon. Flash News from Basel: Chelita has cut his hair and looks horrible Sorry to say this (I adore Chela), but really, I have no idea what he thought when he decided to get rid of ALL his beautiful hair! Calleri played very well today and Roger scared us, but survived. All in all it was a good tennis day and I am already looking forward to next live tournament experiences

I don't think this list is very exact. It wasn't updated when Monaco was "injured" some weeks ago. Anyway, Mariano is well enough to go to parties with Gaston Gaudio On Friday he was with Gaston at the Soda Stereo Concert in the River Plate stadium. Soda Stereo is the Rock Group that Ana recommended me to listen to when I asked her for cool Argentine rock groups Great group

Hi daussy sorry I have no news... but maybe no news is good news. maybe the poor guy just didnt want to go to Paraguay? This time last year he needed points, confidence, tournaments, a miracle, people backing his every match etc etc - he got that by the bucket load Now - things are a million times better.... and even if he stays where he is rankings wise too - he's already made Aus Open Main draw at this point of time... again more good news... I am guessing he will play the next week... and I am going to shoot the drawmaster if he draws another bad first round match-up. drawmaster - be warned There's no real pressure on him at the moment - and it must be a great feeling

I know we have to try to be positive, but I don't like this news at all. Mariano has points to defend this year as well and he needs match practice. I am seriously worried about his health.

Look.... Take a step back a bit and look at the whole picture please. This is meant to be a support site. Do I really have to list the history of the last 3 years? Especially to you guys? He's back in the Top 100 - this was an impossible dream last year... ok I believed in it - but then again I believe in the impossible. He did it.. he got back into ATP Tournaments and even reached a final of an ATP Tournament and of course WON La Serena and Bermuda! There's been NO nasty news this year... only good news... this is great There's been some incredible matches too - and some fantastic scenes we have seen - and precious memories made too. He's NOT going to Shanghai this year (but he will be next year!) so there is NO real pressure for him to play every week this year... ok, so he's invited to play the Copa Petrobas series, he's done one of them, he probably will do the BsAs one, he didnt want to come to Europe for the indoor season, Lleyton quit his year almost straight after the US Open - and he's ok. I just think - until someone finds a harrowing news item that M's hurt - that we should just stop worrying about news we do not know about and just enjoy the fact we dont have serious worries to have. Sorry but that's how I feel at the moment. No offence meant to anyone in this post at all Yes he has some points to defend (Guyaquil?) but at the moment they are not going to affect his rankings or send him back to the 300s this year. I think he's done enough for this year - and if he wants to play more tournaments this year - great!

I support Louise in her post completely. I hope Mariano doesn't mind that I reveal something here now. When I remember where he has been in September 2006 (ranked around 270something, not a very good year on the Challenger tour, unexpected losses against guys we never heard of etc pp) it is for me a wonder of God what Mariano achieved this year. I have a reason why I write it that way. I pray for Mariano since the day when I met him the first time (in Stuttgart 03), and last year in September I sensed in prayer for him that he had thoughts of retiring, IF the Petrobras series wouldn't bring good results. But on the other side I realised that God still wanted him on the tenniscourts cause HE wanted to show HIS Glory through Mariano achieving good results. But how should I tell that Mariano? I didn't talk to anybody about it and suddenly out of the blue Louise told me to check my mtf-inbox. She asked me, if I wanted to send Mariano a supporting mail, she would forward it. So I wrote Mariano a long mail that he should work further and that God would help him little by little with good results, which would result in better ranking, in entering better tournaments etc pp what all belongs to that stuff. And ONLY six months later Mariano was again in the Top 100! And he held this level since then, which is also a good achievement. True, I also think he did not play too much in the last few weeks, but let's put it all in relations. Mariano is able again to play ATP-events (which is for some people here the only interesting tour), what he never ever dreamed of at the end of November 06. The points he loses now are not THAT much that he falls again in the regions where he came from 12 months ago. All in all it was a very good year for him.
